Here is a list of jobs that need doing at the X Country
Before
- To turn up on time.
- Ensure the course is available to use and is safe and if not find an alternative route.
- To organise the course correctly so that it is clear to the racers can see the course clearly by placing the poles, cones and Marshall's in the correct places, setting up the finish funnel.
- Getting the right equipment I.E the direction poles are in the correct places the laptops are set up to record the scores tickets are set out.
- To ensure that that Marshall have high visible jackets so that they can be seen from a distance by the competitors.
- To ensure that everyone knows exactly what their roles are.
- To make sure that I have a way to contact the race officials.
- Bring a first aid kit.
During
- To Marshall the race correctly and fairly and make sure that none of the racers are cutting corners etc.
- To be responsible and set an example to the younger racers.
- To help any unsure racers about the course and lead them in the correct way.
- To encourage and motivate the athletes.
- To report any injuries to the race officials.
- To notify the racers what races are when.
After
- To congratulate and praise the racers
- To tidy away the used equipment
- Discuss and summarise how the day went
